the chronicle of the turbo LS chevette LS fest road trip

let me start of by saying this is my friend Jordans car, he built it this summer after coming out to a sloppy mechanics dyno day, and saying fuck it, my beater chevette needs a ls swap.

after sourcing a broken 4.8 60e truck, he swapped the drive line in, and well, fuck it added a turbo while he was at it.

his main goal was to keep the stock hood latch, front end, and rad support in tact so he could close the hood an hide the madness inside.

he used a ls1 cam, some cheap springs, GT45 turbo, small air to air intercooler and plumbed it all up, PSI conversion harness and a PCM i flashed for him. Fashioned his own surge tank and ebay 044 external pump, corvette regulator and some 60lb injectors.

he got the car on the ground, running the day before LS fest... and drove 5 miles home and decided it was good for the 1500+ mile journey.

here it is, ready to go.

they were on the road and making great time, unfortunately the oil pan is low, the front suspension is old, tired, and taxed with the extra hardware in the front end, and to top it off, the ohio roads were rough with construction and bullshit haha

the oil pan took a hit or two, and started leaking bad enough that he could not drive it anymore

After posting on the sloppy mechanics facebook group, one of the members loaded up his trailer, drove out 4 hours just to pick them and the car up and bring them home....

he also left them the keys to a spare car he had, wich happens to be a fairmont, and said they could fix the car and then be on their way.

cleaning the pan, JB welding the pan, and refilling the oil, along with adding some childrens toys to the front end for some extra support in the suspension.

after some photo shoots with charlie's fairmont and jordans chevette

they were ready to hit the road again

Arrived at last, bowling green kentucky

this pretty much sums it up!

doing some more repairs before leaving

throwing S10 shocks in the front for more ride height

also fixing a coolant leak in front of the National Corvette Museum

giving the oil pan a nice coating of no leak haha

then finally making it back home in one piece.

incredible roadkill style adventure haha

also on his way out of bowling green at a gas station in West Virginia, a cop actually instructed him to do a burnout!

also proof of him asking for it on facebook lol

upon returning home LS nation posted photos of the car at LS fest haha
