heads, ls9 gaskets, studs, injectors, intake today!

installed the studs, heads, ls9 gaskets, the heads already had pac 1218 springs in them from a friend. then we dropped in the hardware store fuel rail spacer kit, and i even included what i use for those of you that have asked before. going to take a break form this thing tomorrow night to help a friend out with his supercharged f150 project, ill get some info and whatnot on that, then we will build a turbo kit saturday.

pulled the heads, manifolds, DIPSTICK! and installed the cam

man today went great, only a few hours pulled both heads, all the lifters and the crank pulley and cam, everything looks like a million bucks, so we slammed the Tick Performance cam in there immediately, then threw the timing cover back on and called it a night.

we even got the dip stick out without snapping it off in the block! talk about a motor!

started tearing down the motor for the cam and head swap, and had some fun with the plasma cutter.

fuel fun today

cut out the stock exhaust, and dropped the tank... a few times, lol turns out these 400s draw alot of power and i had to mess with the wiring and make a larger connector for the power going to these beasts, also, the 30 amp constant 40amp peak relay gets hot... so i bought 70 amp for it.

oh well, these things flow like a sunofabitch.

here are early pictures, by the second time the tank came down i didnt want to mess around with taking pics.

starting on the 2500 today

i dropped it off at my friends shop for some tint because i dont really have too many parts, and itll be nice for the tint to cure in the garage for a little in the warm air for the next few days, so after i picked it up from First Class Tint around 8pm haha, I decided i would get a head start on tomorrow, and rip some stuff out of the engine bay, so i pulled the airbox, and mafs, then pulled the vortech cover, and Evap solenoid, and stock map sensor and cut the wires, soldered in the EFI source 3 bar map and pigtail, and then rose budded the Evap solenoid hole a little bit and RTV'd and hammered in a 3800v6 IAT sensor and clipped the IAT wires off the 5 wire maf, and connected them to the relocated IAT. then i made a quick and ugly EGR blockoff and then upgraded the car to hptuners 3 bar speed density OS, fired the car and it ran for 2 sec so i shut it off right away haha. its 130am, tomorrow i think we are gunna drop the fuel tank, install the twin pumps, and then maybe work on the rear suspension a bit, removing the blocks and whatnot

kpa to psi calculator

i found while tuning turbo cars how most of them are metric, i converted the numbers alot.

ended up writing this program for personal use, figured some of you might like it...

tuned chads twin turbo ebay 57mm car

chads twin turbo turd gen, say that five times fast!
incredible thing about this build is thats a a stock motor, stock cam, stock throttle, intake, etc etc, just has valvesprings installed and head studs, cheap ones too!

23lbs of boost (holding 20 to 6000) it made 650rwhp through the unlocked th400 and 700ftlbs of tq!
damn!

Dyno'd the fairmont today

after the cam swap, made 650rwhp on just 16psi and 15deg, pumpgas and methanol (washer fluid)
it also made 611rwhp on just 11psi

another cheaper website to get sloppy mechanics tshirts

brought to my attention that cafepress is expensive, it is, i wanna make this as easy and cheap as possible so i added this site too.

sloppy mechanics shirts!

today overwhelmed by tshirt requests from a website i frequent after they learned i had some made, i figured it would be smart to open a cafe press account and throw some stuff up there for sale.

Ladies and Sloppy Mechanics I introduce to you...
http://www.cafepress.com/sloppymechanics

feel free to give me more ideas to create tshirts, i will work on getting some stuff up!

engine test stand operational!

fired my 5.3 today on the test stand, it will go through some refinement once i figure out what works and how i wanna do stuff, i would like to build a panel that connects to the back of the cyl head or something, and then get a power switch and push button etc, but these nice things might never happen

some cool stuff from AMS performance!

apparently the guys over at AMS performance love sloppy mechanics, this is awesome to me on many levels haha, check out this cool shit they sent me. i am humbled that ams performance is into sloppy mechanics and watches the videos and builds!
video of dons ws6 on the dyno, 550rwhp on 14psi, 12deg, couldnt get anymore boost out of it on the rollers, this always happens and sometimes its worse than other times, oh well that is great power with an unlocked 4l80e and a 9 inch rear to start, the car went mid 10s with only 515rwhp on spray, so this should do pretty good!

Dons turbo ws6 on the dyno

Ill add some video tonight when I cut it up. Car made 560 rwhp on 14psi and 12 deg, great power for a 4l80e and a 9inch rear. Car went mid 10s on 515 rwhp on nitrous. I have a picture of the wastegate stuffed on the snow when we were swapping springs on the Dyno haha.

building another plug and play harness

almost done with this one, i ran out of EV6 injector connectors! so i need to get more to finish this one but i definitely am getting better at it. this one is prettier than the rest!

turbo 4.8 gremlin

got my friends turbo gremlin on the dyno today but the trans couldnt hold the power, inconsistent and hitting the limiter on some pulls slipping past the trans or bullying the converter around, not sure yet, but it did manage to lay down 470rwhp on 10psi. here is a video he put up.3

hand held datalogger for ms1 products?!

im going to get some video for you guys and more detail on this neat product by EFI source, its a hand held datalogger that records right to a micro SD card, you just push the button in the car to make datalogs! no more laptop in the racecar! pretty neat product, right now its for MS1 extra code ECUs only, like the ms1 i use with the 6010 combo, im going to be testing it out on some of our cars and seeing how it works and showing you, it will be for sale shortly on EFI sources website and their ebay store.

test stand / engine stand / ecu testing stand

trying to get this working so i can fire motors and we can see if they are good or not before putting them in cars.

microsquirt on the engine stand

build a 3 ft microsquirt harness on the engine stand today, main goal here is obvious i wanna start motors on the stand and test ecu's and engines etc.

how to install a IAT sensor in the truck intake

popular LS v8s have the intake air temp sensor in the MAFS itself, so swap cars, we like to remove the Evap solenoid behind the throttle, open it up a little with a grinder or drill, and then RTV and hammer in the sensor with a dead blow, works awesome, right in the intake stream without being an obstruction.
