Sloppy mechanics and many others helping children in need
You would never know from the smile on his face that this little boy is terminally ill. It really amazes me sometimes what can be done with a group of car people, and this is an awesome story.
Alex, the boy in this photo had a request on his bucket list, that his mother was not sure how to fulfill, He wanted a ride in a Lamborghini or a Ferrari, and if at all possible, both vehicles. She made a facebook post reaching out to friends and family asking how she might even get started asking for help getting her son his dream rides in the two exotic cars.
My friend Glen knows her personally, and thought to himself, i know a car network i can reach out to in hopes of getting help, or at least some info on how to approach this, he posted up on the sloppy mechanics face book page and was instantly in contact with exotics owners in the valley who were willing to help!
A local man named John, arranged to meet up with them and take him for a drive in his Ferrari, they setup a meeting spot and John drove Alex around and he had the time of his life. Just when you thought that this story couldn't get more awesome, a man with a Lamborghini was trying to setup a date to take Alex for a drive, and although i don't have all the details, he could not make it happen, but what he did do is contact the Lambo dealership, they arranged to have Alex taken to a race track in NJ, with a Lamborghini and one of their drivers! Pictured above is Alex with the car at the track where they blasted around the track.
I cant imagine what Alex and his mother are thinking about all of this, they probably think they are dreaming.
Incredible turn of events from a group of people who are most well known for destroying cars and vehicular lunacy, car people as a community, as it turns out can also make dreams come true for children in need.
I am proud of the small contribution Sloppy Mechanics made, even if it was just a medium to get in contact with the awesome people, the dealerships, and car owners, and everyone who made this happen.
I have a totally different perspective of exotics owners, and Lamborghini as a manufacturer after this whole event.
Thank you again to everyone who made it happen.
