how to install a IAT sensor in the truck intake

popular LS v8s have the intake air temp sensor in the MAFS itself, so swap cars, we like to remove the Evap solenoid behind the throttle, open it up a little with a grinder or drill, and then RTV and hammer in the sensor with a dead blow, works awesome, right in the intake stream without being an obstruction.

non intercooled dyno results!

So results from tonight are padded quick from the other night, for some information...
dyno day i did 711 rwhp on 22lbs and a 125 rwhp shot with the intercooler attached.

tonight i did 697rwhp on 24psi and 15 deg timing, no nitrous non intercooled.
i bumped to 16deg and it made 684 i went to 15 deg and leaned it to 12.0 and it made 691, i made about 15 dyno pulls and half were over 675 but it was smoking like a whooooorreee tonight and the engine bay had nice little sprinkles all over it from the valve covers pushing out oil, and then it was smoking at idle, so i knew i hurt it, even though the damn thing has 18.6 inches of vac at idle! haha
its also idling rough wich is a give away in my experience, aside from the chimney out the valve cover vents

i have 5 cyls at 145psi and one at 125 and another at 50 and the last at 60.
cyl 6 has 125 and 2and 3 are the 50-60psi cyls
here is the plugs from 2 and 4

looks like i butted the ringlands finally, so i bought a set of gen4 rods and pistons wich are stronger off ebay used, and im gunna open the ring gap and fit the rings and try to hit this thing harder.

video of smokey the bear coming soon!

hurt the fairmont today! haha

well we hooked up the car strait to the throttle, no intercooler to see if it was a restriction, and took it out and it was noticeably more powerful, so much so that i barely turned up the boost controller and it was at 25lbs of boost and an absolute terror, problem being that i had 6x reused head bolts and one stock tty bolt at only 65ftlbs in this car haha, and it lifted right where the TTY bolt was, and torched the head gasket and the head. the awesome thing is the bottom end is fine, we will be swapping the head out because that is damaged and swapping over the valvesprings and using a stud kit i have and taking it right back out! gunna dyno it this time and see the power different before i blow it up again but holy shit its making power for sure, the intercooler must have been a restriction because i was never able to lift the cyl head before... we will see once i get it back together, only took me and corey 38 min to pull the motor and take it apart, wild!

sunbird project running already!

installed the pumps, fuel lines, wired the relay, both pumps, connected the new lines on the sumped tank, to the feed and returns that were already in the car, got the knock down fittings in the front in the engine bay to the rails and the return fittings working great, no leaks, its a 255 and a 044 together...

also got the starter swapped out, put in a push button start though the shifter safety, also made the downpipe and wastegate pipe out the hood, just gotta throw in the O2 sensor bung and hook that up and then wire that to the megasquirt box and its really done.

we really hustled today and it paid off, car fired with the first starter hit no problems. only have to finish hooking up the fan, rad hoses and fill the block with coolant and very few other things like boost gauge and whatnot.

video of it running...
