4.8 turbo swapped 240 done

my friend Ryan is helping his friend swap a older truck with a 5.3 and 4l60e combo!

i am excited to see this done!

tore into the fairmont sunday night after we got rained out of the dragstrip

tore into the fairmont after we got rained out at the dragstrip.
cut a bunch of things and yanked the motor and trans together, then assembled a 5.3 shortblock i had in pieces, going to hopefully throw some heads on it and get it bolted to the trans, and installed and make mounts for it later this week. hopefully starting on it tuesday, i have some stuff to order.

highway tuning in mexico

malibu runs, and cools!

after getting all the hoses and radiator and etc to fit i got a fan from the junkyard, a 2 speed ford fan with a cowl and everything works awesome! fired the car and let it idle for almost 30 minutes and it took a while to heat up the coolant in the block even without the fan on, then just turning the fan on low speed it was able to easily cool the motor down to about 180f (stock tstat with 2 very small holes drilled in it) pretty happy with that! on top of the rear not being a drop in i figured i would go the 8.8 swap route so me and corey pulled a disk brake rear end out of the junkyard for this pig, and i bought swap upper A arms for it. very excited to have this go in.

got this thing fired today

install all the things

engine, trans, intercooler etc installed, did some wiring and intercooler piping also, oil feed and return are ready to rock, etc etc, might even fire it tomorrow night.

88 gt with a 5.3, ls9 cam, double springs, s475 turbo, air to air intercooler, stock truck intake, methanol 19lbs of boost, built th400 with a trans brake! hopefully on the dyno this week...

taking them back to the yard they came from, and starting with another fresh 5.3

replaced a nicked piston today

with a spare used one out of another 4.8, just threw on the rod, bearing and all.
